Trickle chargers

These are the smallest types of chargers, designed to keep batteries at an optimal charge level by continuously and slowly charging them. They prevent overcharging by automatically turning on and off as needed. These chargers are ideal for vehicles or equipment that are not used for extended periods, such as cars, motorcycles, and boats. By maintaining a constant voltage, trickle chargers extend the battery's lifespan and ensure it is always ready for use. Some Victron models are even powerful enough to function as full-fledged battery chargers.

Discover them below.

Battery chargers

In many cases, chargers are not only used to maintain charge levels but also to fully charge batteries from empty to full. Which type of charger should you choose for this purpose? To answer this question, two factors must first be determined:

  1. Battery size: How many Ah (amp-hours) need to be charged?
  2. Charging speed: How quickly do you want to charge the battery?

Below is a simple calculation example to help you determine the correct charging capacity:

Below is a simple calculation example to help you determine the correct charging capacity:

If your battery has a capacity of 200Ah and you want it to charge from empty to full in 4 hours, the following calculation will determine the required charging current:

Charging current (A) = Battery capacity (Ah) / Charging time (h) = 200 Ah / 4 h = 50 A

In this example, you would need a charger capable of delivering at least 50A. Of course, the charger must also supply the correct voltage (12V, 24V, or 48V).

Now that the required charging current is known, here is an overview of the available chargers:
